Opuntia is the genus of plants commonly known as the "prickly pear" cactus and is a common fixture in the fauna of the Sonoran desert. This project continues in the spirit of Patchwork Saguaros in depicting the desert plants that are representative of Southwest Arizona where I grew up.
Optunia explores the output variety in a short form generative series that can be achieved just through the play of generative textures created by layering and glitching stippled dots, all depicting the same subject matter.
Each of the 18 tokens in the Opuntia series share the same palette and the same composition, varying solely in their use of texture and arrangement of color.
